De Lorean Motor is given extension on reorganization DETROIT (AP) A federal bankruptcy judge yesterday granted the De Lorean Motor Co. an additional 30 days to reorganize the company after he was told a group of investors wants to buy the firm's remaining assets and resume auto production. Bankruptcy Judge George Woods set April 25 as a new reorganization deadline.
De Lorean Motor lawyer Lawrence Snider told Woods that a California lawyer representing four investors was unable to meet the original deadline of Friday for coming up with a plan to pay off creditors and to salvage the company. Snider refused to identify the investors. It was disclosed earlier that the California group had made a $100,000 deposit with DMC to acquire the firm's remaining assets. "This is the only live hope of there ever becoming an entity that will look toward manufacturing this car," Snider said.
