By RONICA SHANNON McClatchy Newspapers RICHMOND Richmond police arrested two Richmond men Wednesday in connection with recent break-ins at Richmond and Berea Dairy Queen restaurants. Joshua W. Abney, 21, Irvine Road, and Curtis D. Collins, 29, Foxhaven Drive, were charged with third-degree burglary and are lodged in the Madison County Detention Center in lieu of $5,000 cash bonds. The two were caught on surveillance videos provided by both restaurants, according to police.

Richmond police learned about Abney and involvement based on information offered by the Madison County Department. Another suspect recently was being interviewed by a Madison County detective about a non-related case, and eventually offered the names of the men reportedly involved with the Dairy Queen burglaries, said Col. Ed Robinson of the Madison County Department. Suspected DQ burglars captured leadership group toured the jail, he said, and when finished wanted to know who they could contact about helping to get a new jail. Mutter, Greer and three magistrates went to Crittenden County to see its jail, which was built for $7 million, Mutter said.

Everyone who went left believing a new jail was the best option for Barren County. seen what Crittenden County can have with 10,000 people. I see any reason why we have just as nice a facility with a tax he said. Mutter said he and Greer have looked at the number to renovate versus building a new jail, and a new jail is simply the best option for the county. just seems as though a lot of magistrates want to be responsible for making such a big Mutter said.

Greer said Barren Circuit Judge Phil Patton and Family Court Judge W. Mitchell Nance will speak to the three magistrates currently against the new jail prior to the fiscal court meeting; Dickerson questions the appropriateness of that. the judges want to try and convince the magistrates, they should come to fiscal court and say it in front of Dickerson said. He also questions if the state will make the county move local inmates during renovations, and says magistrates know enough about the size and cost of a new facility. He said rather see a regional jail, for which several counties would share the cost of construction.
