DD. W.West Park Circle·2+ weeks agoHello all I am in the process of submitting to officials my idea of reducing rental prices in charleston county. I have been collecting signatures on a petition to get this done. Rental prices should not be above 20% of income for complexes that have 100 or more apartments. There is more to this idea, so If anyone knows of officials that can help with this please let me know. This idea will bring down homelessness and also enable persons making minimum wage the ability to pay rent. Thanks95Like261
AA. H.West Park Circle·2+ weeks agoDoes this kitten belong to anyone? I’ve seen it a couple times off Durant. It looks like a stray, but a neighborhood kid said they thought it belonged to someone but is an outdoor cat. It’s very skinny and I’m worried about it.6Like9

CCITY OF NORTH CHARLESTON POLICE DEPARTMENT2+ weeks agoAgencyPlease join the North Charleston Police Department in congratulating Cpl. Tiffani Crider, who has been named the "Employee of the Month" for December 2023. In April 2018, we received a report of the sexual assault of an 11-year-old special needs girl. Sadly, in 2020, the same victim, now 13 years old, was sexually assaulted again. Despite investigations by a former detective, no suspects were identified in either case, and both investigations went cold. In 2019, Cpl. Crider took on the 2018 case again. She conducted a thorough investigation and identified Emeric Hamilton as a person of interest. However, with no concrete evidence to prove that Hamilton was the offender, the investigation was closed. Cpl. Crider did not give up. She reopened the 2020 case and conducted a renewed investigation, which led to the identification of Hamilton as a person of interest in the second case. Cpl. Crider discovered that Hamilton's DNA profile was in the Combined DNA Index System database. She obtained a search warrant for a DNA swab from Hamilton and sent the sample to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. The DNA results positively linked Hamilton to the crime, and he was arrested. On November 29, 2023, Hamilton was found guilty of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor 2nd Degree and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Cpl. Crider's outstanding dedication and hard work helped solve the case, and we are proud to have her as a member of our team.6Like1

DD. D.West Park Circle·2+ weeks agoI just want to thank the NCPD for their work on our street these past few days. There has been drug activity, gunshots, stolen vehicles, and attempted robberies happening over in our Russelldale neighborhood over the last few weeks-- and the men and women of NCPD have responded SO quickly (within 5-10 minutes) of each occurrence. Last night, they busted several drug dealers living down the street from me and confiscated more than a couple of illegally-owned weapons. Thank you SO much NCPD for working to keep our community safe!!!146Like11
