from the state or our local Mills said "I will not stand here and tell you $115 million will meet all the needs By RON SMITH HaraM Staff Writar The Ellenton Area Civic Association took no official position on the proposed 115 million school bond issue Tuesday night after hearing a presentation from a county school administrator But there was a hint of skepticism in the handful of questions directed at Dr Virgil Mills director of planning reports and federal projects for Manatee County schools The question of how much bond money would be spent in the Ellenton-Palmetto area north of the Manatee River was among concerns Almost 50 persons attended the public information meeting which was called to acquaint area residents with the bond issue A countywide Mills replied that the two new elementary schools that have been proposed are for the west and southeast sections of tiie countv but that sites for future schools have yet to be determined He said the sites will be in areas with the greatest need for additional schools In response to another question Mins said the last school bond issue sought by the county was in 1972 when voters approved more than $6 million for improvements in the school system He was unable to identify any community organization that publicly has endorsed the $115 million issue "Certainly we would covet your support" he told members of the kicked and stabbed he told police injuries were minor Arrests Two men who had chicken dinners and dessert at the Howard Johnson restaurant at US 41 and Manatee Avenue were arrested for allegedly failing to pay their checks Scott Pelletier 19 and Ricky Goulden 20 both of 613 12th Ave Palmetto were arrested as they walked north of the Green Bridge Both men were charged with defrauding an innkeeper and were held mi $264 bond Thefts HJ Reeves 49 reported that a wallet containing $140 several credit cards and personal papers was stolen after she left it in an employee lounge at Blake
