Haiti's new prime minister taken to hospital, official says

A Haitian official says the country's newly selected prime minister has been hospitalized in the capital of Port-au-Prince, an official told The Associated Press. It isn’t immediately clear why Gary Conille was hospitalized late Saturday. Louis Gérald Gilles is a member of Haiti's transitional presidential council that recently chose Conille as the leader of the troubled Caribbean country. Gilles told The Associated Press that he was en route to the hospital and did not have further information. Conille was chosen as prime minister May 28 after a convoluted selection process.

Ex-LSU player Josh Maravich, son of Hall of Fame player Pete Maravich, dead at age 42

  • AP

LSU says former Tigers basketball player Josh Maravich has died at age 42. He was the youngest son of late Hall of Fame basketball player Pete Maravich. Josh Maravich was a reserve for LSU for four seasons from 2001 to 2005 under then-coach John Brady. When he played for the Tigers, Josh Maravich said he knew he wasn't going to be a star but always wanted to play at LSU and thought it would make his father proud. LSU's basketball arena is named for Pete Maravich, who starred for the Tigers from 1967 to 1970 and set the men’s NCAA Division I scoring record of 3,667 points. Josh Maravich is survived by his mother, Jackie, and older brother, Jaeson.

Massive chunk of Wyoming's Teton Pass crumbles; unclear how quickly the road can be rebuilt

  • AP

A massive chunk of the meandering Teton Pass has collapsed, leaving a gaping dirt gash along the mountain pass that is a critical link between small eastern Idaho towns and the tourist destination of Jackson, Wyoming. Authorities Saturday said the road was closed at the time the section of road fell away. The closure came amid ongoing concerns with a crack and drop in the road that first drew attention Thursday following a motorcycle crash. It’s unclear how long it will take to rebuild the road, which is a commuter route for people who work in pricey Jackson but live across the border in Idaho.

Colombia routs sloppy US 5-1 in Copa America warmup, extends unbeaten streak to 22 games

  • AP

Jhon Arias and Rafael Santos Borré scored in the first 20 minutes and Richard Ríos, Jorge Carrascal and Luis Sinisterra added goals in an 11-minute span late in the second half, leading Colombia to a 5-1 rout of the United States in a Copa America warmup. A defensive lapse by Antonee Robinson and aimless defensive play by Johnny Cardoso, Tim Weah and Cameron Carter-Vickers led to four goals. Since a 5-1 loss to Czechoslovakia in the 1990 World Cup, the U.S. had given up that many goals only in a 5-0 loss to Mexico in the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup final.
