Epic Games has confirmed the release date for the Fortnite 30.10 update and will introduce a host of new content including new weapons and collaborations for everyone to enjoy.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is in full swing and players have been getting to grips with the new-look map and Fallout items. But, the devs are keeping the ball rolling with regular updates, the first of which is set to be v30.10.
So, here are the early patch notes for the Fortnite 30.10 update.
- Metallica crossover
- New skins
- Leaked weapon
- New LEGO Fortnite difficulties
- Bug fixes
Fortnite 30.10 update release date & downtime
The Fortnite 30.10 update will go live on Thursday, June 13, 2024, as confirmed by the official Fortnite Status account on X. The developers, however, have not mentioned when the downtime begins yet.
Based on previous updates, downtime is expected to begin at 1 AM PT/ 4 AM ET / 9 AM BST and last a few hours. During this period, you will be unable to access the game and search for a match.
Fortnite Festival Metallica crossover coming in 30.10 update
All signs point to Metallica arriving in Fortnite Festival with the 30.10 update, although nothing has been officially confirmed by the devs. Leaks had revealed the iconic metal band would be the headliners of the new season, and the devs have been subtly teasing their arrival.
First, the Rust skin found on the Chapter 5 Season 3 Battle Pass is wearing a Metallica t-shirt, lending weight to the leaked 2024 roadmap that emerged earlier in the year.
On June 11, Epic Games released a teaser related to Fortnite Festival Season 4 with question marks on a yellow background. This background was previously seen in Metallica’s 72 Seasons album art, all but confirming a crossover with the popular metal band.
Tune in tomorrow for an electrifying announcement from @FNFestival 🤘🔥 https://t.co/DnQ0ipaSK8

Data miners also suggest that the Metallica crossover will span across Fortnite Festival, Rocket Racing, and the Battle Royale modes. Here’s what you can expect from this collaboration:
- Skins (James, Lars, Kirk, Robert)
- BR Concert with 6 songs
- Season 4 Festival Pass
- Metal Lightning Guitar MYTHIC
- Metallica Loot Island POI
- Thrash Mountain Car + Racing Rewards
Fortnite 30.10 update new weapon leaked
According to leaks from the likes of ‘HYPEX’ and ‘Shiina,’ the Fortnite 30.10 update could also introduce a new weapon called the Tow Hook. First spotted in a leaked trailer, the weapon launches a large three-pronged hook that damages players and attaches to vehicles.
Once attached, players will seemingly be able to use the cars to drag them along, helping them traverse the map and offering a new way to counter the vehicles that have dominated the meta in Chapter 5 Season 3.

Shiina has also suggested that a Metal Lightning Guitar Mythic item will be added to the game. Now, it’s currently unclear if this will be a weapon or not, but considering that the Metallica collaboration will influence the Loot Island POI too, there’s a chance that it might behave as a weapon.
New skins in Fortnite 30.10 update
Nick Eh 30, a popular Fortnite content creator joins the Icon Series, receiving his own skin. The skin isn’t live yet but will be revealed on June 11, at 3 PM ET.

Considering that it’s a brand new skin, the Nick Eh 30 Fortnite Icon Series skin will make it to the Item Shop after the 30.10 update is released across all devices.
New LEGO Fortnite difficulties in v30.10 update
The Fortnite v30.10 update will also add new elements to LEGO Fortnite with the Cozy and Expert modes. According to the official blog post, “Cozy mode is a nice mix of Survival and Sandbox mode” where the default settings turn off features like hunger, temperature, and stamina so you don’t have to worry about them.
On the other hand, the new Expert mode features new Storm-Wild enemies that “deal more damage, have more Health, and move faster than regular enemies.” It’s worth noting that enemies in Cozy mode will be easier to defeat, while those in Expert, even those that aren’t Storm-Wild creatures, will be way tougher.
LEGO Fortnite’s Expert mode will also add permadeath, meaning you won’t be able to return to the World you created if you’re killed. Players can craft a Totem of Return to respawn at their beds when eliminated, but the totem will destroy itself upon use.
The new totem will require new materials you can get by defeating Storm-Wild enemies, so keep that in mind. In addition, defeating Storm-Wild Brutes will give you new trophies to showcase your courage in the game.
