Step 1: Start by mixing up the pudding as directed on the back of the box.
Step 2: Next when the pudding is thickened, stir in the bananas and 3/4 cup of the Nilla wafers. Stir well to incorporated.
Step 3: In a separate bowl, you are going to use a stand or hand mixer to bean the heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks. This will take a bit of time.
Fold in the whipped cream, and mix lightly. Don’t mix too hard or you will break down the cream.
Step 4: Pour the mixture into the popsicle molds, and then sprinkle the remaining cookies on the bottom. Place sticks in, and freeze.

Storage
You can store these leftover nilla wafer banana pudding dessert popsicles, for around 2-4 weeks. I find anything after the cookies become too soft and mushy it kind of changes up the texture.
You can store your popsicles in the molds to preserve them. If your mold doesn’t have a lid, cover your popsicles so they are not fully exposed to the freezer or they can grow ice crystals quickly and freezer burn.

Helpful Tips and Variations To Recipe
- I love using the Instant Pudding for this recipe. It simplifies prep. But you can use homemade banana pudding in replace of the vanilla nd bananas.
- Skip the vanilla wafers and do graham cracker crumbles for a banana cream pie popsicle flavor.
- Instead of banana slices, you want to chop into tiny bits for this recipe. I find the banana slices are overpowering.
- This frozen treat can be made dairy free if you need. Coconut milk, almond milk, etc. or plant based dairy can be used.
- Instead of making your own whipped cream buy a tub of whipped topping to fold.
Recipe FAQs
What does stiff peaks mean when whipping heavy cream?
Stiff peaks means you have whipped the heavy cream long enough it makes stiff peaks. That means when you lift up your whisk attachment, the cream stays on them, and is nice and stiff. If you find it drips off or droops down, you need to keep whipping.
You want the consistency of whipped cream.
How long does it take popsicles to freeze?
These pudding pops take around 6-8 hours to fully freeze. You can freeze overnight if you are not in a rush. If you go to pull out the pudding pops too soon, the stick can pull out and leave the popsicle in the mold, stuck.
How to remove popsicles from molds?
You can take your mold and run it under warm water for 5-10 seconds. This is going to soften the edges just enough so you can pull out your popsicles from the mold very easily.
If the popsicles are still hard to remove from the mold, run under water a bit more. Make sure to not get water on the top by the sticks, just the bottom of the mold.
What size pudding to use for homemade pudding pops?
I used a 5.1 oz container of pudding for this Jello pudding pop recipe. You will find the heavy cream and bananas helps to thicken up the pudding even more, for a super creamy frozen pudding pop.

- 1 box of vanilla pudding 5.1 ounce box (and milk called for on box)
- 1 cup bananas chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup Nilla wafers chopped
Instructions
Start by mixing up your vanilla pudding as directed on the back of the pudding box. Once it is fully thickened, then move on to the next step.
Add in 3/4 cup of the crushed vanilla wafers, and the diced up banana slices. Stir well to incorporate.
Now, in a new bowl you will grab a hand or stand mixer and pour in your heavy cream. Whisk it up until it forms stiff peaks.
Fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture to incorporate.
Spoon the mixture into the popsicle molds, and then with the leftover crushed vanilla wafers, sprinkle on top of the molds. Then place your sticks in.
Freeze for 6-8 hours or overnight or until these banana pudding popsicles are fully set up and frozen.
Once done, remove carefully and enjoy these banana popsicles!
Notes
Shortcut – Instead of making homemade whipped cream, you can buy a container to mix in the banana mixture.
Bananas – Make sure to use ripe bananas, so it gives a rich banana flavor. Then you can use frozen diced bananas or fresh. Do small pieces, so it is easy to eat.
Banana Cream Pie Popsicles – Instead of vanilla wafers do graham cracker crumbs or crush up crackers to smaller bites. This will give it a different flavor.
Pudding – I used vanilla but you can change up what flavor of Jello pudding you use.
Storage – Store your popsicles in the freezer for 2-4 weeks. I find they are best fresh, but they will last for awhile.
How Many Popsicles Does it Make – Depending on the popsicle molds you use, it will all depend how many you get out of this recipe. I made 8 with the mold I posted below.
